Mr. Floyd Glen Finks

The cooing sounds coming from the bedroom down the hall one early September morning caught the attention of Joe Hicks. "What's that noise?" Mr. Hicks, with a mischievous grin, asked his son, Larry, who was getting ready for the first day of school. The cooing grew louder. "It sounds like a pigeon," Mr. Hicks said with a wink. The newest member of the family had come home, a bright-eyed baby boy who's mother named him Floyd. But to friends and family he would forever be affectionately known as Pigeon, the nick name given to him by his grandfather. Floyd Glen Finks was born September 4, 1968 in Pittsburg to Linda Hicks and Floyd Finks. Pigeon worked nearly 10 years in the production department at the Sacramento Bee newspaper, but later enjoyed success as a residential real estate investor, owning properties in the greater Sacramento area. His hobbies included collecting cars-new and classic models- and raising pit bulls dogs. He loved to travel, visiting many states across the country. During his youth he enjoyed playing football and basketball. He graduated from Olympic High School in 1986. Mr. Finks is preceded in death by his father, Floyd. Survivors include his wife, Aileen Torres Finks of Sacramento, his mother, Linda Hicks of Bay Point, sisters Danequs Finks-McCoy of Oakley, Camile Finks of Antioch, Dedra Finks of Tomball, Texas, Tiffany Pervoe of Oakley; and a brother Larry Finks of Antioch. He leaves to seven children; sons Ryan, Janik, Chevelle and Roman and daughters Nehiah, Kelis and Omari and a host of family and friends.
