Floyd Joseph Landry, Jr. of Pass Christian, Mississippi, was born in... New Orleans on December 14, 1952. He passed away on September 23, 2017, at the age of 64 in New Orleans, after a short illness.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved parents Floyd and Josie Landry, his loving wife Deana, his three brothers Bobby (Lisa), Kerry (Linda), and Wayne (Riki), his sons Ryan (Yessica) and Jason (Elizabeth), his stepdaughters Ashleigh and Carolyn Mullins, his three grandchildren, Nashia, Brock, and Mia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Floyd graduated from St. Bernard High School in 1970, before going on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Southeastern Louisiana in 1974. He went to work for Shell Oil Company immediately following graduation, and he spent 33 fulfilling years with the company before retiring in 2007.
Work took Floyd from New Orleans to Houston to Traverse City, Michigan and back, before he eventually settled in Pass Christian. He was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for nearly 23 years, where he taught boating safety classes, assisted in search and rescue missions, and helped in training exercises for the active duty military, among other duties. He also sang with the Coast Chorale, and was both proud and humbled to have been able to sing at Carnegie Hall in 2015. Floyd was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, serving on the parish council, singing in the choir, and serving on the building committee.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in St. Bernard, Louisiana, at 2:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Coast Chorale, P.O. Box 6531, Diamondhead, MS 39525, as this organization brought Floyd so much joy during his time singing with them.

To the entire Landry family....we are so sorry to hear about your loss. Please accept our deepest sympathies as we keep you in our thoughts & prayers.

September 29, 2017

The Lord presents many challenges during our stay on this earth, none of which is more difficult than losing a son, brother, husband, father & grandfather. We pray for your family during this difficult & testing period.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget"

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
love leaves a memory no one can steal."

I worked for him at Shell Bullwinkle and gained much respect for this wonderful leader. He treated all who worked with or for him with dignity. He truly cared for others as his Catholic upbringing taught him.

Floyd was a wonderful family man and person admired by many. RIP Floyd

Floyd was my son-in-law for 13 years. I have never met a man more upright and honest than Floyd. He was caring and giving, always willing to help and would always be there if you needed him with a big smile on his face. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Our prayers and sympathy go out to his family. He is in heaven now, singing with the angel choir. The good Lord took him too soon. He will always be remembered as the beautiful person he was to all. We love you Floyd. Until we meet again, may you Rest In Peace.

Deana -

I have such fond memories of our years together at Our Lady of Lourdes. Not having seen either of you in some time, I was shocked to learn that Floyd had gone out of this world. I will always treasure the time we spent together as the tenor section (we were it!), rehearsing in the old church, struggling to learn our parts under your able and oh-so-patient direction. Floyd worked SO hard to sing well, and after a while I realized he was working even harder to win the heart of our lovely choir director. I'm sure I never saw a man happier to say "I do" when that moment finally came. What a joy it was to see the two of you joined that night, and how sad it is to think of you separated now by his passing. But what a comfort it is to know Floyd has certainly won his eternal reward. I never knew a better, kinder, more thoughtful man. He was God's gift to all who knew him, and now we give him back. May God bless you in the years ahead, Deana, as he has so bountifully blessed you in your years with Floyd. You brought so much happiness into his life. Elaine and I are overwhelmed by sadness at your loss but know that God will sustain you in the days ahead. We send our condolences with love and sorrow and a promise that you and your daughters, and a very special tenor, will remain in our prayers always.

Our condolences, sympathy, and love to Deana, their children, brothers, Mr. Floyd and Ms. Josie and extended families members.
I will miss volunteering and playing golf with my lifelong best friend. Our 60 years of friendship always considered a gift, never for granted, and most of all a blessing from the Lord, Jesus Christ.
May the Most Holy Trinity welcome the newest angel (Floyd, Jr.) to his eternal place of happiness in heaven with all our friends and relatives who proceeded him. May he sing in its heavenly choir forever with the angels and saints above.
It's been truly a blessing to know and be a small part of this beautiful person's life, while God lend us his presence these 64+ years on Earth.
Thanks be to God for the life and experiences of Floyd Landry, Jr. His earthly presence to be missed in our lives, but his spirit of life will live within us.
In Christ's Peace,
Erie & Patricia Hebert

So sorry to hear about the loss of Floyd, Jr. When I was in seventh grade and still in public school with the crazy packet system, I was in class with Reed, Floyd, Benny, and Octave who were all seniors. I believe it was a literature class taught by Ms. Laro, a youthful ex nun. Fun times, Floyd, was outgoing and I remember that he had a band and loved playing music. He was also a serious scholar. Wow, we just keep losing all the folks that made St. Bernard what it was. Prayers for the family.

I met Floyd years ago when he first started with Shell. I remember him as a smart, friendly guy with a smile on his face-most of the time. We later worked together in Michigan. He was most helpful to those those who really needed and wanted help. All in all a great guy!!
