The funeral for Floyd Davis Mitchell, age 71, of the Mount Hope community will be Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Prairie Grove Missionary Baptist Church at 2 p.m., with J.C. Hand, Ronald Oliver and Edward LouAllan officiating.The body will lie in state one hour before the service. Burial will be in Gargis Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday from 6 until 9 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home, Moulton.Mr. Mitchell died Monday, July 28, 2003, at his home. He was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Lawrence County to Irvin and Lona Mae Isbell Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a farmer and a former Lawrence County deputy. He was a member of Prairie Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Masters Quartet for 22 years.Mr. Mitchell was the brother of the late Roscoe Mitchell and the late Cecil Mitchell.Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Yvonne Mitchell; one son, Kevin Mitchell; three daughters, Jacqueline Kerby, Vanessa Crumpton and Agatha Garcia; seven brothers, Lloyd Mitchell, Jimmy Mitchell, Johnny Mitchell, Price Mitchell, Eugene Mitchell, Curtis Mitchell and Kenneth Mitchell; four sisters, Norene Pearson, Marilyn Pospiech, Carolyn Wolfe and Linda Kelso; 11 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.Pallbearers will be Kennard Little, Eric Daniel, Brian Mitchell, Stevie Mitchell, Jamie Kerby and Wesley Kerby. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Kimbrough and Marty Berry.
