Frances Herda Obituary
"Fran" as she was known by her family and friends, was born Jan. 13, 1949, in Towanda, Pa., the daughter of Ray and Ida Dunfee Fries. She attended St. Agnes School in Towanda and was a graduate of Towanda High School Class of 1966. On Dec. 3, 1966, she married Robert E. Herda at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Towanda. Fran was formerly employed by the law firm of Davis, Murphy and Niemiec in Towanda for a number of years. Her main interest in life surrounded her home and family. Fran was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Church. She enjoyed the outdoors, taking walks, working cryptographs and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by: her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Robert E. Herda at home; children, Amy M. Mazzella di Bosco and husband Giuseppe of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Robert E. Herda II and wife Jodi of Sugar Run, Pa.; grandchildren, Giuseppe Mazzella di Bosco II, Jordin E. Herda and Jalynn M. Herda; sisters, Julia Barnes and husband James of Towanda, Theresa Kelly of Big Pond, Pa., Donna Spier and husband David of Clifton Springs, N.Y.; brother, Ray Fries and wife Dona of Melbourne, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Constance Owen and Veronica Weisensee.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Third Street, Towanda, Pa.
Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be directed to St. Agnes School, 102 Third St., Towanda, PA 18848 in Fran's memory.
