Frances Hope O'Neal, 87, Martinsville, died at 2 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008, at her residence. Born July 12, 1921, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Margaret Emily (Hoyt) Rose. She retired in 1995 from Harman-Motive (now Harman-Becker) in Martinsville. She previously worked for the Martinsville Candy Kitchen, the Home Lawn Sanitarium and the Kennedy Home, all in Martinsville. She was a 1939 graduate of Morgantown High School. She enjoyed the outdoors, collecting frogs and owls, and yard sales. She loved her cats, Toothy and Bubbi, and enjoyed time spent with her family. Survivors include a son, Micheal O'Neal of Bargersville; two daughters, Christine Linville of Martinsville and Cathleen Pryor of Danville; 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia R. Myers; a son, Daniel G. O'Neal; a granddaughter, Leisa Gaye Myers; two sisters, Margaret "Tiny" Borges and Laura Marie Mosberg; two brothers, Henry Clay "Bud" Rose III and William Elvis Rose; and her former spouse, William Delmar O'Neal. The celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Neal and Summers Mortuary in Martinsville. The Rev. Kevin Kearby will officiate. Visiting hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the mortaury. Burial will be in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Humane Society, 4039 Gunn Hwy, Tampa, FL 33618.
