Frances T. Price

Frances Turner Price, �Fran�, died on October 12, 2008, at Winter Park Memorial Hospital. She was born August 28, 1915 in Tampa, Florida into the third generation of a family of early settlers in the Tampa Bay area. Fran was the youngest of six children born to Annie Fulcher Turner and the Reverend A. Fred Turner, Sr., who later became Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Orlando. Her early years were spent in the Tampa Bay area, Jacksonville, and Orlando. After graduating from Florida Southern College, she continued studies in Cincinnati and became a Registered Dietician. She then spent several years as a dietician at Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. She was the first dietician at St. Vincent�s Hospital in Jacksonville, and later became the dietician at Winter Park Memorial Hospital when it opened in 1955. Fran also served as consultant dietician for several hospitals and nursing homes in Central Florida. Among her civic activities Fran served as President of the Winter Park Hospital Auxiliary, the Orange County Medical Society Auxiliary, and the PTA of Lakemont Elementary School. She was an active member of The First United Methodist Church of Winter Park. Fran was a deeply spiritual person who lived her faith every day. She believed in doing good things anonymously without any thought of reward or thanks. Fran served on the House of Hope Auxiliary Board, contributed to numerous charities, and engaged in one-on-one outreach that was a positive influence on the lives of many individuals. She was the recipient of Florida Southern College�s Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Service to Humanity, and in 1995 was Florida�s Mother of the Year. She was an accomplished artist and photographer who twice exhibited her works in the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival. Fran is survived in death by her husband of 67 years, C. David Price, M.D., her two sons, Alan Price, D.M.D, and Charles �Chad� Price, M.D. of Winter Park, their families, and by her exchange-student son, C�sar Alierta Izuel of Madrid, Spain. Memorial services will be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 1:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park.
