Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2017.
Frances Allen Toungate, born on November 15, 1922, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester R. Toungate, her daughter, Margaret Ann Matthews, her parents, Mason R. Allen and Effie Myers Allen, her sister, Doris Siebert, and her granddaughter, Alice Ann Pruett.

Frances is survived by daughters, Joy Pruett and her husband, John, of San Antonio, Texas and Kathy Wheeler and husband, Wayland, of Medford, Oklahoma. She is also survived by six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Frances grew up on farms in Williamson County, Texas, for the most part. She married Chester in 1941 during his service in the U. S. Army. His work in construction caused them to live in a variety of places. They eventually established a home for raising their three daughters in Austin, Texas. At retirement, they settled in the nearby city of Georgetown, Texas. They were married for 62 years until Chester passed away on April 7, 2003. Frances resided in Oklahoma near her daughter since the year of 2009.

As a woman of multiple talents, she enjoyed reading, studying the Bible, cooking, gardening and sewing. She worked as a homemaker and as a very active member of the Church of Christ for years. She taught Bible classes and stayed involved in compassionate ministries. Even when advanced in years, she loved to sing hymns and to hear the reading of Scripture.
