Francis L. Henkel, 88, of Horicon passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital. Francis was born the son of Lawrence and Alice (Maas) Henkel on November 13, 1928 in Horicon. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon. Francis was a 1946 graduate of Horicon High School. He was employed with Gardener Manufacturing in Horicon for 44 years. Francis was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War until his discharge in 1952. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon where he taught Sunday school for decades. Francis loved to read and enjoyed collecting especially antiques. Francis is survived by his brother, Robert (Marilyn) Henkel of Mountain, WI; and further survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerome. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. A visitation will also be held on Thursday, December 8th from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Juneau City Cemetery in Juneau with military honors to be conducted by the Juneau American Legion Post #15.
