Aldene Frances Couto went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 28th, 2022.
Aldene was born November 27, 1930 to parents Joe and Mary Santos in Hanford, California where she grew up on the family farm. She was the youngest of six children. Aldene later met Frank H. Couto at a dance at the Chowchilla Portuguese Fiesta and were married February 2, 1947.
Aldene attended Kings River Hardwick and Hanford High School. She was a full-time homemaker who supported her children with their 4-H, FFA, and sports activities. As the kids grew older, she worked various jobs including walnut harvest, Cornet (in the Hanford Mall), Montgomery Wards, Kit Carson, and Kings River Hardwick Schools.
Her favorite places to vacation were Santa Cruz, Pismo Beach, and Morro Bay because they involved special times with family. One of her special memories was when she went to Hawaii with Frank for their 50th wedding anniversary. She loved family gatherings and always had an open door with a meal waiting to be served. She also enjoyed making birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends.
Aldene attended Glad Tidings Church where she enjoyed activities with her friends in the 50+ group and her weekly womens bible study and fellowship.
Aldene is preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank Couto, sons Alan David Couto and Timothy Couto, brothers Lawrence Rose and Tony Santos, sisters Chris Costa, Tillie French, and Angie George.
She is survived by her children: Larry Couto (Janice), Karen Small (Nolan), Lonnie Couto, Alan Couto, Lori Couto, and Randy Couto. Eight grandchildren: Sarah Diaz (Raul), Rachelle Rosales (Robert) Deborah Montgomery (Ryan), Brian Atkins (Heather), Renee Alex, Jason Couto, Justin Couto (Meaghan), Jeffery Couto (Kara), nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews.
Special thank you to Valley Christian Home and Diamond Terrace for their love and care for Aldene.
She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Viewing and Celebration of Life for Aldene Frances Couto will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022.
Viewing is from 8am-10am at Peoples Funeral Chapel located at 501 N Douty St, Hanford, CA, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11am at Glad Tidings Church located at 750 E Grangeville Blvd, Hanford, CA.
