Frank J. Kopeski, Jr., 73

STERLING - Frank J. Kopeski, Jr., 73, beloved husband of Virginia (Rizzo) Kopeski, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Born in Worcester and raised in Uxbridge, he was the son of the late Frank J. Kopeski, Sr. and Jennie (Wolock) Kopeski.

After graduating from Uxbridge High School, Frank went onto further his education at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst where he earned his bachelor's degree. While attending the university, he was a member of the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps program. Then, following college, he honorably served his country as a lieutenant during the Vietnam War with the United States Army where he was a member of the Military Police. Upon his return home, Frank moved to New York City and began his career with the United States Customs, The Department of the Treasury. He first served as a Sky Marshal and then later went on to become a Special Agent, retiring in 1998 after many years of dedicated service. After he retired, he moved his family to Sterling, Massachusetts. As a resistant of Sterling, Frank was a faithful member of St. Richard of Chichester Church. He was an avid hunter and fisher and was a member of the Eight Point Sportsmen's Club.

More than anything else, Frank loved spending time with his family. He was very involved in his children's activities and in the summers he made sure he took the family on many vacations and camping trips filled with lots of adventures.

He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 32 years, Virginia "Ginger" of Sterling; his daughter, Janine Downey and her husband, Matthew of Sterling; his son, Frank J. Kopeski, III of Warrenton, VA; and his sister, Joan Jakuboski of Dighton.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 13 in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling (appropriate Covid-19 protocol will be observed including the use of masks and social distancing). A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Richard of Chichester Church in Sterling. Frank will be laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Eight Point Sportsmen's Club, 147 Beaman Road, Sterling 01564.

Just heard about Frank' s passing. Frank was a Supervisor in the JFK Office when I first became an Agent back in 1982. He was a quiet, fair man who would always give you sound advice. He was a good man
RIP Frank

Frank was a truly great person. Always quite and reserved. I had the privilege of working for Frank many years at both the US Customs JFK & NY SAC offices. He was always ready to listen, without judgement and give advise if asked. My thoughtfelt prayers to his family of whom he was so proud of. God Bless you Frank.

Frank was my first supervisor as a Special Agent with US Customs. He was a good and fair man as well as a fellow New Englander. More then that he was a friend especially to my daughters as he would buy lots of cookies from them. A very good man who will be sadly missed. God Bless to Ginger and family.

Frank and I were best friends in high school. I hooked up with him last fall at Bert's Restaurant in Uxbridge to catch up. We were in Vietnam at the same time, him in the army and me in the air force (we were on the American side) but never could quite hook up in person, although we were usually only 15 miles or so apart. We will all miss Frank. My life is better for having know him. Rest well old friend, we'll catch up again...I want to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to his family, I want the children to take comfort in the fact that your dad will forever be with you, for it is his blood that runs through your body. A part of him will remain with you for all the days of your lives. God Bless....

Frank was in my class for all four years of high school. He was such a nice person and both funny and intelligent.
