I am sorry to hear of your fathers passing. He was my favorite teacher. He was the only teacher who challenges me and I was so proud that I did well in his class. He inspired me to work hard and his belief in my talents gave me confidence to go to college and eventually pursue a PhD in biology. I will forever remember this very special teacher . My condolences to your family. Best , Rachel Tinker-Kulberg

I am just seeing this. My condolences to you and your family. Mr. Laundy was my AP History teacher. He taught my father a 63 CHS grad and I graduated in 90. He reenacted scenes from Carl Sandbergs book A Profile of the Civil War. May he RIP

Frank was not only a great teacher to me but one of our best friends. Dan and I had many fun nights with Lois and Frank as our neighbor and always had the utmost respect and love for him and his generosity toward us and our boys. Always in my mind we´re our many camp outs, especially with Y-Indian Guides. We last visited Lois and Frank in the Soo in the summer of 2013 and so glad we did.

Sorry for the delay, but just saw this. Frank Laundy was the best teacher and one if the best people I've ever known. It's been 34 years since I sat in his classroom and it is amazing how I continue to go back to the lessons he taught me almost every day. He technically taught history, but what he really showed us is the value of understanding issues from all sides and that the motivations of all parties. He never said the word, but he taught having empathy. In the current political climate, I've kept going back to the lessons he taught to make sense of today. He will always be one if the most important people that entered my life.

Mr. Laundy was my AP American History teacher in 1990-1991, and the coach of our Brain Bowl team that year and the next. He's the reason I majored in History at South Florida. He always had a smile when your day was kinda going bad, an interesting fact about something none of us knew about [that as adults, we'd need later], and he told us that his favorite beer was St. Pauli Girl. He was so special to us at Chamberlain, and even though I don't teach History, I try to be the person he was to my own kids. My condolences on your loss.

Your father was a great teacher. I loved his class at CHS in Tampa. Loved his stories and the fact that he made us think! In fact he inspired me to teach high school Social Studies. I had a long a successful career and thought of him and his influence on me often. Thank you Mr Laundy for caring! Linda Wingert Mickey. Class of 69

So sad to hear of Mr. Laundy's passing. He was one of my favorite teachers at CHS and in fact, even taught my mother and my sister. He taught multiple generations of students! What a great teacher and a great man!

I apologize for being so late to this. An amazing man who cultivated my love for history as a student in the early 90’s.
and ultimately turned me into a social studies teacher today. He is everything everyone wants to be as a member of society. My deepest condolences.

Dear Laundy Family,
My sincerest condolences on the loss of your dad, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Mr. Laundy was one of the most influential teachers I ever had. He taught us how to think critically and extrapolate outcomes based on the facts that we had. He made history come alive, and he impressed on his students how important it is to understand the past so that we don’t repeat the mistakes that were made.
I remember his enthusiasm. He would frequently grab the door jam and swing into the room at the beginning of class! There were so many things about your dad, that reminded me of my own dad, who was also born in 1931. They both had a kooky sense of humor, my dad was a Geography Professor, an Army Reservist, and taught his children that seeing the USA from the “way back machine” of their Chevrolet was an adventure to be cherished. We were the lucky ones. I have thought about Mr. Laundy so many times over the years, and told my own children about him. I’m sad that I never had the chance to thank him for being such a great teacher. I hope that knowing the impact he made on his students gives your family a little comfort during this sad time. His legacy is a grand one. Thank you for sharing him with the rest of us.
With kindest regards,
Cheria Palmer McNabb

Just found out about Mr. Laundy's passing, one of my all-time favorite teachers at CHS. Had him for AP American History in the mid 80's. I had just moved from WI and we joked about how UW Madison served beer in the student union. Very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Laundy's passing. He was such a wonderful teacher, mentor, and man. He fostered my love of history, law, and politics, and one of the reasons I became a lawyer and still love a good debate. Your tribute was beautiful. Many thoughts to your family. I hope you always know that many, many students adored him and are much smarter because of him. Kelly c/o 94

Frank 'Wabajigami O'Laundiniski' was the most kind, engaging, and dedicated teacher I've had. Decades of students will not forget the annual viewing of 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' or how he brought American history out of the book with his "and then, damnit, Frick got mad!" story.
I visited him in his classroom, post-High School, for a 'Grinch' viewing, and again a bit after his retirement in his Tampa home. A model of a person.

So sad to learn of Mr. Laundy’s death. He was my favorite history teacher and the reason I majored in history in college. He was funny, articulate, intuitive, smart, and told a good story! Everything a history teacher should be. And on top of all that, he was unfailingly kind. Sending my deepest sympathies to his family, with the hope that they are comforted to know how many people’s lives he impacted for the good. May he Rest In Peace.

One of the greatest athletes to come out of Soo High school. Easy to get along with and willing to share the spotlight. I consider him to be a true friend although we had lost touch over the years. My condolences to Lois and the rest of the family. May he rest in peace.
