BOVINA _ Frank W. Skala, 72, a 20-year Bovina resident, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, Sept. 22, 2007, at his home.
The son of the late Roland and Lillian (Chisholm) Skala, he was born Nov. 20, 1934, in East Meadow, where he grew up, graduated high school, and married Constance Combs, Nov 23, 1953, a union of 37 years until her death, Sept 10, 1990.
Formerly of East Islip, Frank was a tree surgeon and longtime employee of Asplundh Tree Expert Co., and was a Suffolk County auxiliary policeman, moving to New Kingston in 1971, and later to Bovina, where he greatly enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen and Richard Baiata, of Islip Terrace; five sons, Frank Jr. and Coleen, of Ft. Pierce, Fla, Roland and Freda, of Sumter, S.C., Richard and Therese, of Fleischmanns, Thomas, and Kenneth and Neoma Skala, all of Bovina; his companion of 15 years, Joyce Marshfield, of Hamden; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister and three brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister and two brothers.
Friends are invited to call 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, when the family will be in attendance at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Bert More, with burial following in Bovina Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to Bovina Emergency Squad will be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.
