On Father's Day, June 15, 2003 at 11:46 a.m. Frank T. ""Smitty'' Smith passed away. Age 87 years. Beloved husband of Gladys Aucoin Smith. Son of the late Robert E. Smith and Gertrude Laigast Smith. Brother of the late Lester, Robert W., Madonna, Alvin, Mercedes and William Smith. Devoted father to Phyllis Smith Figaro, Paula Smith-Bowers, Christopher J. Smith and the late Frank T. ""Sonny'' Smith, Jr. Grandfather of Guy Smith, Jolin Figaro, Frank T. Smith III, Aaron Smith, Tina McNish, Amy Abadie, Suzanne Martin, Pam Crecelius and the late Marie Smith. Great-grandfather of 8. Algiers native born - entrepreneur began at 7 years old as a newspaper boy and was inspired by the Marianite Nuns of Holy Name of Mary School. By the age of 17, he had created Smitty's Cabs with a fleet of 23 cars that zoomed around the New Orleans area with he and his brothers singing, ""Rain, hail, sleet or snow - Smitty's Cabs will always go''. Beginning in the early 1940's he drew success in Jefferson Parish with Smitty's Casino and Restaurant, the Grand Theater and Grand Launderette, F & S Auto Sales and the Gulfview. He was a devoted friend to all who knew him and will be remembered for his generous heart and the special love he had for the Grand Isle people and all the lives he touched along the Bayou Lafourche and Jefferson Parish area for 63 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services in the chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 7040 Lapalco Blvd. (corner Westwood Dr.), Marrero, LA on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum, Westwego, LA. Parlors will be open Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Information: 366-4343.

We are very sorry about your loss. Both of you will be in our prayers, I'm sorry we were unable to attend the services, I was tending to legal matters involving my brother's death, but you two were never far from my thoughts. If either of you need anyhting, don't hesitate to call, Chris has my number.

WHAT A COOL MAN. ONE OF THE BEST I WILL NEVER MEET ANYONE LIKE HIM. HE WILL BE MISSED FOR REAL, THAT'S NO LIE. DUDE COULD TEACH YOU SO MUCH IN JUST A FEW MINUTES. MAY HIS NEW WINGS GO GREAT WITH HIS AWESOME WHITE SUIT AND LIGHT BLUE TIE AND REFLECT THE SPARKLE IN HIS AMAZING BLUE EYES. MY LOVE GOES OUT TO CHRIS, PAULA, PHYLIS, AND MISS GLADYS.
