Frank Warren

Frank M. Warren of Portland, OR sadly left us on January 20, 2024 due to complications from a lengthy battle with dementia. He was 84 years old.

Born and raised in Portland, Frank attended Ainsworth and Lincoln High School, graduating in 1957. He attended Stanford University, receiving his BA in 1961 and completing his Masters in Engineering in 1962. He entered the United States Navy as a commissioned officer in 1963, serving in Guam in the South Pacific and in Newport, RI. Frank later earned his MBA from Harvard University in 1968. Frank worked with his father (also Frank) for the family business, Willamette Western from 1971 to 1981. While with the firm, Frank led projects in Brazil, Valdez, Alaska, and Honolulu, Hawai'i. He soon founded his own general contracting firm, Warren Pacific, specializing in civil engineering projects around the city and region; major projects included significant work on the Fremont Bridge and a longstanding contract spanning two-plus decades with Tri-Met to continuously repair and refurbish the city's bus shelters. Frank also volunteered with St. Vincent De Paul and served on the board of River View Cemetery. An avid golfer and wine enthusiast, Frank enjoyed traveling to play courses across the U.S. and Europe with close friends and family. His early life travels included the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 1964. He was an amateur evangelist for Oregon pinot noir and could often be found enjoying extended walks along the beaches of Gearhart, Oregon tossing a ball for his faithful canine companion, Rusty.

Frank is survived by his three children, Liz Warren Zada (Jason), Frank Warren, and Bill Warren (Amy), his first wife Patricia Warren, six grandchildren, (Milo, Jane, Lula, Owen, Liam, and Reid), and two sisters, Betsy Feichtmeir and Ginger Brubaker Rae (Don). He is predeceased by his second wife, Judy Rogers Warren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Frank's honor to the Portland chapter of St. Vincent De Paul or the Oregon chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
