Fred Voss Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 10, 2025.
Fred W. Voss, 75, who loved big and laughed hard, died peacefully at home in Louisville, KY, surrounded by his family, on May 2, 2025.

"Freddy" and Debbie (Clements) were married for 47 years, and together they built a family rooted in boundless affection for one another. He was an incredibly proud father, and his enthusiasm for his four children was infectious; whatever they might do throughout their lives, he would proclaim it "incredible", "the best", "unusually good", or "out of this world". He loved them fiercely and without reservation.

Freddy believed that a handshake was forever, that arriving on time meant you were 10 minutes late, that Lake Cumberland was a magical place, that you measure twice and cut once, that good music was among the most important things in life, and that friendships last a lifetime.

Whatever task lay before him, from lending a hand on home improvement projects to mending broken hearts, Freddy approached it with passion, honor, and his absolute fullest effort. His laugh was among the most genuinely joyful sounds to be heard. Above all, Freddy Voss loved unconditionally.

Fred is survived by his wife Debbie; his children Abby Turnier (Steve), Lucas (Hannah), Alex McCoy (Eric) and Becca Faubel (Mark); grandchildren Eden, Sylvia, Maddox, Ethan, Isla, Noelle, Forrest, and Boone; four sisters, his nieces and nephews, and more friends than we can count.

A celebration of Freddy's life will be held at the Peterson - Dumesnil House, 301 S. Peterson Ave, on Thursday May 15, 4:30 - 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift in Fred's name to the Children's Tumor Foundation, Mail Code 6895, PO Box 7247, Philadelphia, PA 19170-0001.

I wish had abundant memories to share but though we were friends from high school on we didn't spend that much time together over the years. Every time we did I felt better for it-- warmed by his good humor and inspired by his approach to life. He made the world a better place. Quite a legacy!

Freddy was an amazing man. Those simple words hold so much truth, but they only begin to capture the essence of who he was. He was more than just loved-he was cherished. By his family, by his friends, and by everyone fortunate enough to truly know him.

Freddy had a way of making people feel seen and heard. His warmth, his laughter, his strength, and his unwavering support left a lasting impact on those around him. He carried himself with quiet dignity and an open heart, always willing to lend a hand, to share a story, or to bring a smile to someone´s face.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we also find comfort in the memories we shared-the lessons he taught us, the kindness he showed, and the legacy he leaves behind. Freddy lived a life of purpose and integrity. He was a man who loved deeply and gave generously.

As we say goodbye, we honor not just the sorrow of his passing, but the beauty of his life. His spirit lives on in the stories we tell, in the values we carry forward, and in the love that remains in this room today.

Freddy, we loved you. We will always love you. And we will carry your memory with us, now and always.
Love, Teresa, Casey, Emily and in memory, Teddy

Freddy was a passionate boy, teen, man, husband, father, and brother. Whatever he did, he did well and he proclaimed everything was the "best".
Words cannot describe how he will be missed. Debbie always said he was the smartest man she´d ever met. I believe she was right.
