Frederick Reposa, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 27, 2025.
Frederick Robert Reposa, Jr., affectionately known as Freddy, Junior, or Bo, passed away peacefully at his home in Hayward, California, on June 22, 2025. He was 76.

Born and raised in the Jingle Town neighborhood of Oakland, California, Frederick's early years were marked by close friendships and deep family bonds. As a young man, he endured profound losses, including the passing of his eldest brother, best friend, and beloved mother. In adulthood, he faced challenges such as addiction and incarceration but ultimately found the strength and faith to rebuild his life.

Determined to heal and grow, Frederick earned his GED, attended trade school, joined the union, and most importantly, reconnected with his children. In his late 30s, he began a career in HVAC, finding pride, stability, and renewed purpose. He married the love of his life, became a homeowner, and built a life grounded in love and redemption.

Frederick was devoted to helping others, especially those in recovery. His life story became a powerful testimony to perseverance, faith, and second chances. At 62, he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer but overcame it with resilience and the support of loved ones, going on to live many more joyful years.

He found joy in music, dancing, and time with family. A fan of jazz, R&B, salsa, and oldies, he enjoyed concerts, outdoor events, and classic car shows. A true car enthusiast, he took meticulous care of his own vehicles and loved watching rebuilds and restorations. After retiring, Frederick became an Uber driver to fill his days and earn a bit of extra cash. He loved meeting new people, sharing stories, and striking up conversations during each ride. More than anything, he enjoyed the connections he made and the chance to be a small, friendly part of someone's day.

Frederick will be remembered for his humor, strength, devotion to family, and generosity of spirit. His life was a testament to love, transformation, and the power of redemption.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Augustina (Gussy) Reposa, and his brothers, Robert and Wayne Reposa.

Frederick is survived by his devoted wife of more than 33 years, Dolores Reposa, whom he lovingly referred to as "my Dolly"; his children, Larry Reposa (Karen), Gary Reposa (Rachel), and Angela Reposa; his grandchildren, Karena (Peter), Jaime (Justin), Gary, and Frederick; and his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Reagan, Sawyer, Axel, Raya, Raphael, Carlos, Azucena, and others who brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter, Alma (Raphael); stepsons, Anthony and Javier (Laura); his sister, Cynthia Lotoaniu; and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

A Visitation and Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 13, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Jess C. Spencer Mortuary, 21228 Redwood Road, Castro Valley, CA. A reception will follow from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Georgian Manor Community Center, 1419 Buckingham Way, Hayward, CA.

Sending my deepest sympathy. Bo was such a gentleman and the sweetest person. He always had a smile on his face each time I saw him. Bo will be missed for all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace with the Lord.

Diana, Evelyn and Delia Rodarte send their sincere condolences to our dear friend Dolly and the family. We remember Bo from way back and he was a force to be reckoned with. Later he used his strength to build a family and a life that he could be proud of. We love Dolly and we know that she lost the love of her life but we know that her family will be there for her during this sad time.
