Frederick A. "Freddy" Swan, age 96, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Frederick was born in Boston, to the late Arthur and Gladys (Donovan) Swan. He was raised and educated in Roxbury. He lived in Quincy for fifty-one years, previously in Dorchester.

Freddy was proud to have served in the United States Army at the conclusion of World War II.

He worked as a truck driver for Teamsters Local 25 for twenty-five years and went on to work in maintenance for the University of Massachusetts Boston for ten years. He had been retired for many years.

Freddy was an avid Boston Bruins fan. He was devoted to his family and especially enjoyed supporting the activities and accomplishments of his grandchildren.

Beloved husband for seventy-one years of Katherine F. "Cookie" (Kaczka) Swan.

Devoted father of AnneMarie Odle and her husband Brandon of Whitman.

Loving grandfather of James M. MacNeil, Cameron F. MacNeil, U.S. Navy Veteran, Katherine A. Shaughnessy, and Bradyn J. Shaughnessy. Step grandfather of Skylar Odle and his wife Makenzie, Destini Odle, and Brandon Odle, Jr.

Dear brother of Gloria Swan and Catherine Trickett, both of Revere, and predeceased by Everett Swan, Harold Swan, Richard Swan, and Hazel Van Buskirk.

Freddy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.



Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Tuesday, August 12, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation prior to the service from 9:30 - 11 a.m. Interment, with military honors, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, will take place privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers and due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, donations in Freddy's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
