Fredric Jones Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 24, 2025.
Fredric E. Jones, 84, of Seminole, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025. Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on November 1, 1940, he was the son of the late Cecil E. Jones and Mary Louise Dunn Jones. Fred served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961. After his honorable discharge from the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class, he earned a B.S. and M.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Mississippi and completed a residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He went on to serve as Assistant and Associate Director of Pharmacy Services at Massachusetts General and as an Associate in Medicine at Harvard University Medical School's Computer Science Center. His scholarly contributions included authoring the chapter on Addison's Disease in the first edition of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics (1975). His career later took him to Saudi Arabia, where he was Director of Pharmacy at two hospitals, before returning to the U.S. to work at VA Hospitals in Boston, MA, and in Bay Pines, FL. A longtime resident of Seminole, Fred was an active member of the community, serving with the Community Emergency Response Team, the Friends of the Library, and the committee celebrating the 50th anniversary of the City of Seminole. Beyond his professional and community accomplishments, Fred was a world traveler and scuba diver. He explored the world with curiosity and delight-embracing new cultures and friendships wherever he went. Fred had a remarkable ability to connect with people, maintaining deep and lasting relationships from every stage of his life-from his childhood in Grenada, Mississippi, and his Navy service, to his career in healthcare, and fellowship grown from his more than 40-year friendship with Bill W. and Dr. Bob. Fred is survived by his brother, G. Richard Jones; his beloved children, Adrianne K. Holmes and Christopher E. Jones, and their mother Lynda Tadema-Wielandt; and his cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Elyse, and Audrey Jones. Fred will be remembered for his kindness, humor, charm, and unwavering friendship. His life was full of purpose, adventure, and love, and his memory will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home in Seminole, Florida (7950 131st Street North). Friends and family will gather at 10:30 a.m., with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. A reception onsite will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southwest Indian Foundation (southwestindian.com).
