Gaetana "Ann" Cardoni of Jessup passed away at home on Monday at the age of 95. Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Camilla Bertolini Scalamonti Bartoletti. Gaetano died before Ann was born, and she was raised by Ubaldo Bartoletti as his daughter. Ann was educated in Jessup schools and enjoyed reading The Scranton Times-Tribune newspaper every morning. She worked in the local garment industry before retirement and was a regular presence at many community events. Ann was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Mary's Assumption Church and then Queen of Angels Parish.
Ann loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. If you visited her, you left with a bag of cappelletti or ravioli and homemade pasta and meatballs. In her later years, she enjoyed sitting on her porch and visiting with her wonderful neighbors, spending time with her sister and daughter, and learning how to use video calls to stay in touch with her family farther away.
She is survived by her daughter, Camille Marion; granddaughter, Anna Marion and husband, Michael Vazquez; sisters, Lillian Ferretti, Dea Mattei, Susan Baleri and Marcella Weiss; brother, Julio Bartoletti and his wife, Rita; and sister-in-law, Bea Cardoni; and many nieces and nephews.
Ann's family would like to extend a special thank you to Hawa Issaka, her devoted caregiver, who helped Ann spend her final years happily at home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles Cardoni; son-in-law, Dennis Marion; sisters, Margaret Andidora and Vanda Corazzi; and brother, Marcello Bartoletti.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St. John's Cemetery, Jessup. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ann's memory to the Bread Basket of NEPA, 550 Madison Ave., Scranton, PA, 18510; or St. Joseph's Center, P.O. Box 388, Dunmore, PA 18512.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup. Please visit the funeral home website to leave an online condolence.
