GAIL RYAVE Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 1, 2016.
RYAVE GAIL
Age 73, on Sunday, October 30, 2016, after a valiant fight against glioblastoma. Daughter of the late Celia and Seymour Perlut; beloved wife of the late Arnold H. Ryave; cherished mother of Sharon Ryave Brody (Rose Stophel), and the late David B. Ryave; loving stepmother of Steven and James Ryave; beloved sister of Roni Perlut and soul sister of Zola Munter Pober; loving, devoted, and adoring Bubbie of Daniel, Jacob and Allie Ryave, and Benjamin and Joshua Brody ('My Lovie, 'My Sweetheart, 'My Princess, 'The Angelist of all the Angels in the Whole Gansa Velt, and, 'My Pumpkin,' respectively). Also survived by her many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Gail was the owner and President of Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. She was the heart and soul of our family business for over 30 years when she came to work after losing Arnold, the love of her life suddenly. She was known for her smile that lit up the world, her hugs that consoled us all, her singing voice that filled our lives with music, her powerful presence, and straight-shooter approach. A compassionate yet powerful force to be reckoned with, you always knew where you stood with Gail. She loved us all ferociously and we will miss her forever and honor her for the rest of our days. Special thank you to Dr. Engh and Dr. Stone for giving us more time, a gift of which we will be forever grateful, to the entire staff at Shadyside Hospital and Charles Morris Nursing Center, and all the compassionate caregivers we were so blessed to have. Services at RALPH SCHUGAR CHAPEL, INC., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at 11 a.m. Visitation one and one half hours prior to services (9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.). To the Entire Family of Gail Ryave.
I just heard of her passing from a Pgh. friend. How sorry I am for your loss. I did not know Gail very well at all, but Arnold and his parents were a part of my life growing up in Pgh. May there be many happy memories you can call upon to sustain you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all....too many losses.

I am so very sad. I did not learn time of funeral till just now. Gail was my amazing supporter through the deaths of my Mom and Dad. My parents were close friends of Gail's parents and also her husband Arnie Ryave. I was friends with her sister Roni. I can not believe I will never again see her smiling face and will never have another special Gail hug. Love, Roz and Sandy Neiman

My sincerest condolences to the Ryave family. Although I didn't know her, my sister, Carol Chosky was a friend of hers. She took very good care of our family on the passing of my father, sister, and niece.

Very saddened to hear of Gail's passing. Her obituary completely captures her presence and heartfelt support which she offered unconditionally when we prepared to say good bye to my beloved Sam Dad (Sam Spatter). Although a trip to the funeral home is a sad occasion, Gail embraced all of us and made us feel part of something bigger....words cannot truly convey the way she embraced us all and helped us through the process. The Jewish Community has lost a great person with Gail's passing. My heart is with you, Sharon and all of her Family, and to all the wonderful staff at Shugars.
Baruch dayan emet - may her memory be as a blessing.

I send my condolences to Gail's family and to the Pittsburgh Jewish community who will miss her. Gail was the shoulder we all cried on at our time of loss. She was caring and kind and sincere when we needed it most....decades of support to so many families will not be forgotten. Taken from us too soon...
