Galen Seavey Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 21, 2025.
Galen Arnold Seavey Sr., 73, passed away on May 19, 2025, in Machias, Maine. Born on April 18, 1952, in Columbia, Maine, Galen lived a life rooted in love for family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

In the early 1970's, Galen proudly served in the United States Navy in Chicago, Illinois and Millington, Tennessee. His time in the military reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment-qualities that remained with him throughout his life.

Galen was a man who found joy in simple pleasures. He loved hunting and fishing and could often be found outside, puttering around for hours. The outdoors was not just a hobby for him-it was where he felt most at peace. Whether fishing for trout and perch, hunting for deer and partridge. He loved country music, camping, sitting around the campfire having a beer. A lifelong lover of all animals. Galen embraced nature with quiet reverence.

Above all else, Galen cherished his family. His son, Galen Seavey Jr., was his pride and joy-a bond that brought him immense happiness and fulfillment. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Lisa; his sister's Anelda Wallace and her husband Wayne; Abby Reynolds and her husband David; as well as several nieces and nephews. Very loved special friend Marguerite "Maggie" Seeley and special friend Bobby Seeley who were dear to him.

Galen was predeceased by his father Arnold Seavey, mother Betty Seavey, brother and best friend Norbert Seavey, Phillip "Dickie" Hayes and Lorraine Hayes who were like second parents to him.

Those who knew Galen remember him as a wonderful man who loved with his whole heart. He had an unwavering willingness to help others-always ready to lend a hand or offer support without hesitation. His warmth extended beyond family to friends and neighbors alike.

As per his final wishes he will be cremated and there will be no services. His ashes will be scattered alongside his brother Norbert at a future date.

May Galen's memory bring comfort and happiness to those who knew and loved him. Knowing he will always be there in spirit in your times of need. Watching over you with all the love he had for you in life.

Mr. Seavey, we've never met in person but over the 10+yrs that I have known your son Galen I have grown to know you from a 3rd party from all the stories he has told me. NO ONE loves you as much as he does. You were and still are his best friend. You were an amazing father to him and I think if I had met you, I would of loved you too. I'm happy you are no longer in pain and no longer suffering but I cannot think of you as gone. Because you are not. You will always be here in our memories and safe in our hearts. You will be sorely missed.
