Gardner HORTON Obituary
August 22, 1944 - September 5, 2014
Gardner "Gary" Douglas Horton of Ardrossan passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 at the age of 70 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Terri; and his children Ross (Deb) of Ardrossan, and Ian (Shawna) of Ardrossan; four grandchildren Ryder, Leah, Paige, and Dayton; brother Brian (Elaine) of Ardrossan; nephew Cory; niece Laurie and her children Reid and Brynn.
Gary was predeceased by his parents Doug and Iona.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 11, 2014 from the Ardrossan Recreation Complex with Rev. Don Watt officiating. Interment will take place in Agricola Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to S.T.A.R.S., or to the Stollery Children's Hospital. To send condolences please visit

Horton Family:
Our sincere condolences to all of you on the passing of a Great Man Gary. We dug him out of his nice warm bed one night to pull a bunch of Bonspieling Lady Curlers out of the ditch. Always happy, accommodating and willing to make all happy. Rest in peace Gary.

Our sympathy to the whole Horton family. Gary will be missed by so many family, friends and acquaintances. He continued the legacy of his father, Doug, with goodhearted friendliness to all. Many will remember the small favors he did for us and how he always made an effort to put the other person at ease. I have many great memories of growing up with Gary. Farewell to a good cousin.

So saddened to hear of Gary's illness and passing. I hope wonderful memories will help lighten your loss. Many childhood and teenage memories of both Gary and Brian - especially in horse back riding adventures. I was scared to death! I remember the entire family with fondness. We were neighbours. I was very surprised hearing of Gary passing and I know everybody like myself who knew him will only have great memories. My condolence go to the family, I wish I had been able to attend the final good bye to a great friend.

It is with great sadness that I read of Gary's passing in today's Edmonton Journal.
My husband and I were great griends of his parents, Doug and Iona, and of course we knew Gary as a young man.
