Mr. & Mrs. Metacarpa, Justin and family, I am shocked to hear this. I have so many great childhood memories playing on that corner of Linden Ct. and Acorn Ave with Garrett and friends. When I worked at the Y, he was one of those guys you could count on seeing every single day hitting the gym. What an amazing life he went on to lead. My prayers are with you.

My family and I send our deepest condolences. He was a great friend from as far back as I can remember. I have so many great memories of basketball, football, billiards, ping pong in the basement... And just growing up together. I am still in shock about the news, but hope he has found a peaceful place to lay until we see each other again.

Garrett had such a beautiful light. He was a very kind, talented person, who had the ability to put a smile on anyones face, and look at the world in a way that few people could. I doubt I'll ever meet someone like him. He will always be in my thoughts. I am glad to have known him as a friend.

Dear Christy, family, friends and loved ones.
As Christy knows I worked with Garrett here at UAlbany; however, also shared many personal conversations about our service backgrounds, school, and fitness (seeking his advice on how to stay in my pants :)) among many other topics.

I truly enjoyed every opportunity I had to speak with Garrett and I am deeply saddened to hear of his loss. Garrett treated me with nothing less than the utmost respect and courtesy (I am a retired service member myself, although suspect he would have regardless) and I really did enjoy our long talks (although honestly, I talked more than he did many times as he was also a great listener).

I know that no words I can offer here will ease much if any of the pain you are all experiencing; however, I wanted to share that I truly did find Garrett to be an incredibly intelligent and caring person and I admired his dedication, enthusiasm and spirithe will be deeply missed!

Wishing you all strength and comfort during this incredibly difficult time!
With deepest sympathy,

Joel Davis Director, Student Financial Center and Veteran Services at the University at Albany.
