Gary Lee Johnson

GARY LEE JOHNSON August 27, 1946 ~ May 15, 2016 Gary Johnson, passed away in Portland, OR. He was born to Alvin and Ida Johnson in Crosby, ND and graduated from Charles M. Russell High School in Great Falls, MT. Gary served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for Coe Manufacturing as a Pneumatic Instrument tech. and owned his own business, Kiln Tech, servicing the lumber industry. Gary was a RC enthusiast and a member of the American Model Association. He enjoyed kayaking and was a father to everyone. Gary was a great cook and showed his love by preparing many great meals for his family and friends. He also loved living on his sailboat, Sounds of Silence, in which he designed the interior. Gary is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters, Jaime Bullen, Jenna Garske, and Joey Connolly; son, Gabe; eight grandchildren, Max, Tyler, Reagan, Luke, Jaley, Charlie, Drew, and Evan; sisters, Vickie Putnam and Deborah Oldfield; and niece, Valorie Oldfield. His parents and sister, Mary, predeceased him in death. A memorial service with military honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR, 11800 SE Mt.
