Gary L. Rankin

Gary L. Rankin Gary Lee Rankin, 65, of Galax went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 16, 2011. Funeral service was held Thursday, May 19, at the Galax First Assembly of God with the Rev. Cass Horton officiating. Interment was in Monte Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery at Galax with Grover King Post 1115 VFW conducting graveside military rites. He was born April 11, 1946, in Wythe County, son of the late Hardin Lee and Virginia Sutphin Rankin. He attended Galax First Assembly of God. He was a graduate of Fort Chiswell High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Volvo with 22 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Lineberry Rankin of the home; a son, Scotty Lee Rankin, his fianc‚e, Teshia Smith, and their son, Charlie, of Galax; a sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and James "Buckshot" Eversole of Max Meadows; special granddaughter, Dana Rae Rankin; and several special nieces, nephews, aunts, other close relatives and friends. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville was in charge of the arrangements.
