Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 15, 2018.
Gary Russell Sigler, 82, of Bechtelsville, PA; formerly of Osceola, PA entered into rest on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

He was the loving husband of Ruth Ann (Smith) Sigler for 27 years. Gary was born in Montclair, New Jersey to the late Garnett Sigler and the late Dorothy (Thomas) Sigler.

He graduated from Passaic Valley Regional High School, class of 1954. Gary served in the US Marine Corp. He was on the Marksmanship Competition Shooting Team and after excelling in shooting, he became a range coach. Gary also participated on the Marine Corp boxing team.
While serving in Okinawa, Japan, he was the Commanding Officer’s driver.

Gary began his career in sales by working as a sales manager for the former Kirby's Vacuum Cleaner in Norristown and as an owner for the former Medical Personnel Pool in Huntington Valley. He then worked as an agent for Allstate Insurance Company in Norristown and later became an Exclusive Agent working under the name Gary R. Sigler Insurance Agency in Collegeville. After retiring in 2009, Gary worked part-time as a cashier for Walmart in Bechtelsville.

He was a member of the Springford Country Club in Royersford and served on the planning commission for the Borough of Trappe.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed vacationing with his family at the Jersey Shore and Orlando, FL. Gary was an avid sports fan, particularly the Philadelphia Eagles and the Penn State Nittany Lions where he threw awesome tailgating parties. He loved golf and traveled to various places with friends. Over the course of their marriage, Gary and Ruth Ann enjoyed traveling to include 47 states and spent many winters in Sedona, AZ and North Fort Myers, FL. In his retirement years, they bought a farm and enjoyed farming, riding ATV’s with the grandkids, hunting, raising livestock, and shop time. Gary was an avid reader of History, the newspaper, mysteries and novels. He also enjoyed playing cards, dining out, and his daily crossword puzzles.

Gary was a charismatic and gregarious man who was the life of the party. He also was loving, caring, generous and had a great sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Debora L. Sigler of Macungie, PA, Dawn S. Beers of Royersford, PA; his two granddaughters, Kristin E. Natale & husband, Michael of Methuen, MA, Megan L. Phillips of Allentown, PA; his grandson, Kyle S. Beers of Royersford, PA; his two brothers-in-law, Alonzo Vreeland of Cocoa, FL, Edward Krcelich of Bethlehem, PA; and his sister, Emily Walker & husband, Richard of Bethlehem, PA.

More than my uncle, Gary was a mentor to me.

I met Gary in the early 90s through family but Gary proved so much more to me.

Never considering himself perfect let alone others, Gary demanded more of himself and others. He most certainly required more of me.

Garys contributions to my life are important and make up who I am. Even those lessons I failed to learn are engrained in my mind and person.

Gary, I love you very much. Your being being gone has left a void in my heart. I thank you for your honesty and giving.

(I wish for one more conversation, just one, at the farm with you... I suppose we all do.)

My love to my Aunt Ruthie and my family, most especially Debbie and Dawn in their moment of grief. Know that YOUR man, a husband and father, was good.
