Gary Lynn Thompson died peacefully Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in Grand Rapids, MI. He was born May 15, 1947, in Marion, IN, the son of David H. and Ida (Ackley) Thompson.

His dream was to be a salesman, and that's exactly what he did throughout his life. He made his home in Kalamazoo, raised his children here, and loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, going to breakfast at his favorite spots, spending time at the beach, and being with his church family.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Thompson. He is survived by his children, Bryan Thompson, Codi Chen (daughter-in-law Renee Chen), and Keegan Thompson; three grandsons, Joshua, Bruce, and James Thompson; brother, Jan Thompson; sisters, Debra Gibson, and Diana McDaniel; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Gary's family will receive guests at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 am and following the service during a light reception.
