Gayle Isenhower Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 19, 2024.
Gayle Lavois Isenhower, age 79, passed from this life on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at her home in Putnam, TX, surrounded by family.

Gayle was born November 4, 1944 in Cisco, TX to Mark and Ollie Mae Francisco Burnam. Gayle attended school in Putnam, TX and graduated high school in 1962. She continued her education at American Commercial College in Abilene, TX and received an Associate's Degree in Business. She married James Royce Isenhower on February 14, 1964. Gayle held many jobs through the years. Her first job was Bookkeeping at a bank in Abilene, then to the Newspaper in Paducah. She was also an avid Tupperware consultant and soon became a manager. She earned multiple trips, vehicles, and prizes for her outstanding sales. She was the High School Secretary at Coleman High School for many years. After retiring from the school, she opened Treasure Corner, an antique store and gift shop. Any one that knows her knows she loved antiques and collectibles. Once James retired, they moved to Putnam, TX to own and operate I Bar Ranch. She opened the Fillin Station Café and Treasure Corner store in April of 2022. This café brought so much joy to her life. She loved getting to visit with all the customers and serve the Putnam community and surrounding areas some good home cooked meals. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Marfa and a member of the Putnam City Council until her death.

Gayle was a beautiful, loving, caring woman who loved helping those in need. She was the most amazing rancher's wife, mom, aunt, grandmother and friend. Her smile was contagious and could light up any room. She was known as Nana to not only her grandkids but to so many others in the community. Not only did she make a huge impact in their lives, they will forever hold a special place in her heart as well. Nothing made her happier than traveling the world with her daughter Cristy, and being able to support all her grandkids in everything they did.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Glenn Burnam, Mary Everett, and Retha Brown, her husband of 54 years James Isenhower, and her in-laws John D. and Roberta Isenhower.

Her survivors include her three children: Dale Isenhower and girlfriend Christal, Cristy Isenhower, and John David and wife Chancy; Nieces: Alice Richters and Sharla Morgan; Nephews: Kevin Burnam and Nevin Brown; Grandchildren: Cody Isenhower, Dillon Isenhower and wife Destiney, Kailey Isenhower and fiancé Roby, Westen Isenhower, and Lacey Isenhower; great -grandchildren: Baylor, Bristol, and Luke.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, June 20, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Baird with Don Middleton officiating. Burial was in the Putnam Cemetery.

The family requests donations be made to the Putnam Volunteer Fire Department.
