LOS ANGELES (AP) — Geoffrey Lewis, a prolific television actor and frequent co-star of Clint Eastwood, died Tuesday at the age of 79.
Carleen Donovan, a publicist for his daughter, actress Juliette Lewis, confirmed the news Wednesday.
The veteran character actor's credits alongside Eastwood include "High Plains Drifter," ''Thunderbolt and Lightfoot," ''Every Which Way But Loose," and its sequel, and "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," among others.
He received a Golden Globe nomination for the television series "Flo," and also appeared in shows that include "Murder She Wrote," ''The A-Team," and "Mission: Impossible."
Juliette Lewis on Wednesday morning posted a photo of her and her father to her Instagram account, writing that she is forever his daughter and that he will never be gone.

My favorite character played by Geoffrey Lewis is Goodie in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. With Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges, it had to be so great!
Mr. Lewis was one of my favorite actors and he should have had more starring roles, he had the talent.
I'm glad Juliette followed in her father's footsteps, as she is a superb actress and has been in some really good movies also.
Thank you, Geoffrey Lewis, for devoting your life to entertaining others!

In my opinion, Geoffrey Lewis was most underrated as an actor. He was one of my favorites. The roll I loved most was as Goody in "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot", and every time I watched, I never failed to cry at his death scene. He was an amazing actor. My condolences to his family...

Great actor! You were always so good in every movie. You put so many years into your craft. I especially remember you as the grave caretaker in the movie Salem's Lot. May you rest in peace.
