Geoffrey Pearson

PEARSON, Geoffrey Herbert October 28, 1922 - July 1, 2011 Peacefully at the Montfort Hospital on Canada Day as the Snowbirds flew overhead. Devoted husband of Jean (nee Kemp), proud father of John Pearson and Carol Mackerras. Born in Deopham, Norfolk, England, Geoff served as a Flight Lieutenant in 356 Squadron of the Royal Air Force during World War 2. He discovered the beauty of Canada while here with the British Commonwealth Air Training Program, and followed his passion for aircraft back to Canada after the war to work at DeHavilland Aircraft in Toronto. He subsequently joined and served a career in the Royal Canadian Air Force, with postings in Centralia, Barrie, Summerside, Greenwood and Rockliffe. He will be fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren Mark, Michael, Scott, Meagan, Katrina, Julia and Callum and by his four great-grandchildren Kayla, Leah, Isabella and Marnie. He was admired, loved and respected by all that he touched in his life. I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter- silvered wings, put out my hand and touched the face of God. Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway) on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 11 am until Service in the Chapel at 1 pm.
