George Belcher

George Belcher, 84, of Bristol, Virginia, was called home to the Lord on March 14, 2024. Born on October 15, 1939, in Havaco, West Virginia, he was the son of the late William and Bernice Belcher. George served with distinction in the United States Air Force and later relocated to Niagara Falls, NY where he dedicated 35 years to General Motors before retiring from GM in Defiance, OH in 2000. A man of deep faith, George's commitment to his family and to God stood as the cornerstone of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan, with whom he shared a profound bond of love and faith. He was a guiding light to his children, Amber Roulley (Mike) Niagara Falls, NY, Darren Belcher (Rebecca) Pt. Clinton, OH, Jason Belcher (Stephanie) Defiance, OH, and William Nunley (Laura) Falls Church, VA, and a cherished grandfather to Eric Smeal, Jacob Belcher (Kelsi), Brandon Belcher (Krista), Chelsea Belcher, Skyeler Belcher (Ava), Logan Belcher, Morgan Belcher, Will Nunley and Jessica Nunley. His legacy also includes six great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

George is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Finley, and a circle of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his first wife Vicki Belcher, brothers Dewey, William Jr., and Orilas, and his sisters Louise Burnette and Betty Hicks.

A man of integrity and grace, George's memory will be eternally cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His life exemplified the virtues of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.

In honoring George's wishes, there will be no public memorial service. A private interment will take place on the family's ancestral grounds on Belcher Mountain in West Virginia. In remembrance of George, the family kindly requests that his spirit be honored through acts of charity and by appreciating the natural splendor that he so deeply admired.
