George Bradbury Obituary

George Lewis Bradbury, III 83, passed away peacefully on February 22nd. Born in Tucson, AZ on September 15, 1926 to Fern and George Bradbury, Jr. An Army veteran, he attended the University of San Diego and upon graduating with a degree in business returned to Phoenix to work for Valley National Bank. In 1955 he founded the Toy Cottage in Phoenix which was one of the original sponsors of The Wallace and Ladmo Show. He later changed professions and became an ASA appraiser opening Bradbury's Antiques and Appraisal Service in Phoenix, and The Lemon Tree in Carefree. Spending many summers in Silverton, Colorado he created Bakers Park Rendezvous Restaurant and shops there. He was member of Masonic Lodge #2 and a former Commander of Phoenix Knights Templar Lodge #3 (1971). He was an active member of Christ Church of the Ascension, a long time supporter of the Boys Scouts of America and Lions Club. He is survived by his loving family members; wife, Mary Ann, son, George L. Bradbury IV (Paula), daughter, Katherine Quintana, (Mark), grandchildren Melissa Coats, (Bryan "Kip"), George Lewis V, Paul Edward Grey, Step-sons, Kenneth Altenburger (Dana), Peter Altenburger, (Beth), Mark Altenburger (Nelly), step-grandchildren, Kate, Jack, Sam and Michaela. Memorial service will be held Monday March 1, 2010 at 11:00 am at Christ Church of Ascension, 4015 E. Lincoln Dr. Paradise Valley, AZ. In Lieu of flowers please make contributions to the American Diabetes Association or Christ Church of the Ascension.

Thank you for the Toy Cottage. I visited many times in my youth and I loved it. I got my first Bride Doll there. Had to save up my allowance.
