My heartfelt condolences to the family of this very special man. George was a very dear friend and former shipmate of my friend and neighbour Johnny Oliver out here in Gray Creek, B.C. Johnny thought the world of George, and they kept up a close correspondence throughout their lives. They served together on the corvette Weyburn during the war, survived its sinking in 1943, and forged a lifelong bond of friendship which is an inspiration to us all. May you rest in peace, George.

Dear Aunty Mary & Family,

I have always had wonderful memories growing up when our families would get together. Uncle George was a well respected and compassionate man. I always enjoyed seeing and speaking with him.
May your memories of him always stay close in your hearts.

Dear Auntie Mary, Heaven Family, Mom & Uncle Robert,

We extend our deepest sympathies to all on the loss of a truly great man, who I remember as being passionate in all he did. Uncle George was like the family patriarch since Grampa died so long ago. He led an amazing life and was a real hero in WWII. We enjoyed hearing the stories (if my memory is correct) of how he signed up underage, much to the chagrin of his parents. He used to write letters to my Mom all the time, as you know they were very close. His ship was torpedoed, then the rescue ship that picked him up out of the sea was torpedoed. A telegram was sent home that he was missing. They found him a couple of weeks later at a hospital in Gibraltar, where I think he had been unconscious most of the time. It was just not his time to go. His destiny was to have a successful business and have a really great family. I have fond memories of all the family gatherings, which won't be the same without him. I too will miss him dearly.
