GEORGE ROBERT LIGGETT

GEORGE ROBERT LIGGETT, 89, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Angola, Ind., George was a son of the late Forest and Marvel Liggett. George served his country in the U.S. Army. He started working on cars at the age of 14 and continued his career as a mechanic and owner of George's Auto Repair in Fort Wayne. George loved being outdoors, working on his property, watching NASCAR, but most importantly spending time with his family. He loved his family and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Patty Liggett; children, George (Mel) Liggett Jr., Greg Liggett, Lisa (Mike) Hause, and Bill (Travis) Liggett; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Charles (Sara) Liggett, Alice Mabry and Barbara Koskie. George was preceded in death by his siblings, Everett Liggett Sr., Phyllis Castle, Pat Hoopengardner, Eleanor Bellis, Roberta Ebert, Emmett Liggett, and Kenneth Liggett. A Celebration of George's Life service is 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at FairHaven Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St., with a gathering time from 1 p.m. until the service. Memorials may be made to Parkview Home, Health, and Hospice.
