George Nassaney Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 20, 2025.
George Alphonse Nassaney, of Middletown, RI, and Cocoa Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on March 16, 1943, in Central Falls, RI, to Habib and Mary (Bokhazi) Nassaney, George lived a life filled with love, kindness, and integrity.

George was a devoted husband to his wife of 45 years, Pamela (Parente) Nassaney, and a loving father to his daughter, Lynda (Nassaney) Thompson. He cherished his grandsons, Dylan and Benjamin Thompson of Wakefield, RI. He shared a close bond with his sister, Georgianna (Nassaney) Esposito, and her husband, Thomas Esposito, of Woonsocket, RI. He is also survived by his nephews, Anthony Esposito and his daughter, Rowan, and Michael Esposito and his son, Zachary. Additionally, he leaves behind his brother-in-law, Peter Parente, and his wife, Elizabeth; as well as his nephews Tanner Parente and Spencer Parente with his wife, Melissa, and their children, Harrison and Emma Parente.

George built a distinguished career in the toy industry. He began at Eastern Toy in Pawtucket, RI, before moving into merchandising for boys' toys at Zayre Department Stores in Framingham, MA. His expertise led him to Child World in Avon, MA, where he became a respected buyer known for his keen eye for successful toys. After a brief tenure at Hasbro in Pawtucket, RI, he found his greatest professional success as a partner at Product Guidance International (PGI), where he worked with Playmates Toys and numerous other toy manufacturers. His knowledge and character made him beloved by colleagues and business partners alike.

In retirement, George embraced his love for travel and spent cherished time with family while enjoying the warm weather of Cocoa Beach. A lifelong fan of games and sports, he relished playing and watching golf, basketball, and football. He also had a passion for poker and enjoyed trips to the casino. Known for his integrity and generosity, George left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.

I will miss you so much George! You were so kind, easy going, and always welcomed the crew down to Middletown. Whether it was a quick stop to say hello on our way to the beach, a ladies get together where you never seemed to mind us being up very late and not exactly quiet, or an epic day spent at Second Beach with the gals and 13+ of us kiddos ranging from ages 3-18?! You always knew how to make us all feel special, welcomed, and loved. Sending all my thoughts and hugs Pam, and family. Xoxo
