OBITUARY GEORGE S. PETTY George S. Petty died peacefully on March 15, in Key West, Florida. He was seventy-two. George is survived by his devoted and loving wife Ginger, their three children, Geoff, Laura and Michael, daughter-in-law Lisa, and grandchildren Tyler and Paige. George lived a full and active life and was a distinguished and trail-blazing entrepreneur in the North American forest products industry. He founded and led several businesses in his long career including Tembec Inc. and Repap Enterprises Inc, served as chairman of the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association, endowed chairs in economics at McGill and Bishop's universities, received honorary doctorates at the University of New Brunswick and Bishop's, and was a Member of the Order of Canada. A private burial service for family will be held to be followed by a memorial service to celebrate George's life at 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 at the Mountain Side United Church, located at 4000 The Boulevard, Westmount, Quebec. Dr. Robert H. Schuller, Crystal Cathedral Ministries, of Garden Grove, California, will preside. There will be a gathering for family and friends following the service at a location to be announced.
