GEORGE SABO Jr.

George Sabo Jr., of Sleepy Hollow, NY, formerly of Levittown, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2008. George was in the Army Air Corps during World War II . He was shot down over Germany and was a POW there for over a year. He graduated from Villanova University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for Rohm Haas in PA. He returned to his family home in Sleepy Hollow after his retirement. He was a longtime member of St. Nicholas of Myra Church and a volunteer at the VA in Montrose, NY. Beloved husband of the late Mattie Earhart Sabo. Devoted father of George Sabo III and his wife Elizabeth, Carol and her husband Elias Bawell and the late Connie Lee Sabo-Taylor. Dear brother of Eleanor Sabo. George is also survived by his grandchildren and their families, George Sabo IV and his daughter Gabrielle, Gregory Sabo, his wife Shannon and daughter Sophia, David Lama, Jennifer Lama, & Kathryn Distasio, her husband Donald Jr. and newborn son, Vincenzo Michael. Visitation at Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home today, Wednesday, from 4 PM to 7 PM only. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, July 3, at St. Nicholas of Myra Church-Ash Street at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
