George L. Wilson (77) passed away on Tuesday October 16, 2018 in Jacksonville Florida. He was born on April 19, 1941 to George and Carrie Wilson in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
George married Delores the love of his life on January 6, 1959. They spent 57 years together. George and Delores dedicated their lives to raising Foster children and helping many, many more other young lives. As members of the North Florida Foster Parent Association, approximately 1,500 children came thru their loving home from the 1950's till Delores passing in 2016. George enjoyed Nascar and was a big Fan of old #3 Dale Ernhardt. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle taking trips into his 70's. Most of all, George was a family man and was often sought after for advice.
George was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Delores, Two sons Reggie and Michael Wilson, his brothers Pete and Major Wilson, and his sister Sylvia Wilson, all of South Carolina.
George is survived by his son Todd and wife Shelby of Spartanburg, SC. His son James of Jacksonville, His son Jesse also of Jacksonville and his son Brandon and his wife Ashley of Kingsville Mountain North Carolina. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Joshua, Alex, Pressly, Macy, Miles, Tyler and Christina Wilson.
A Visitation with Brief service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home 7242 Normandy Boulevard on Tuesday October 23, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowres the family request donations be made in Memory of George Wilson to www.gofundme.com/funeral-funds-for-george-wilson
