Gerald LEROUX Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerald Leroux on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the age of 72 with his daughters by his side. Joins his wife Susan Leroux in eternal rest. Very dear father to Elizabeth (Stephen), Marc (Liz) and Melanie (Keith). Grandpa to six grandchildren Christopher, Tyler, Scott, Jacob, Jordan and Jarett. Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Yvonne Leroux. Loving brother to Yvette, Rosette, Rejean, Madeleine, Suzanne and Helene. Cherished friend and companion to Helen Johnston. Will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of his life on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 2 p.m. on at the Russell Curling Club, 1076 Concession Street in Russell, Ontario. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Our deepest sympathy for your loss.
I grew up knowing Gerry & Sue and their 3 kids...these were special parents who loved everyone. Gerry always seemed to be happy and what a patient and compasionate person he was. I needed work as a yound man in my 20's and Gerry was happy to hand over his D-7 bulldozer and the task of spreading wet clay along the banks of the Nation River. He said this is how you start the dozer and this is how you shut it off, now got out there and show me what you can do. Well, at the end of that summer I had the arms of a weight lifter after working these hand controls to steer and to raise /lower the blade. I got the hang of it and he was impressed so he said there sits the shovel and this is how it starts and this is how you shut it off, now se what you can do and off he went on another job. Well, I was doing fine till I realized that I had dug too close to the river bank and realized there was no more earth under the one track sitting along the edge. I left the boom in the ditch to stop the shovel from sliding into the river and off I went to find Gerry...he followed me back, looked at the shovel and started to laugh...he got it safely re-positioned and said "Try again!" Gerry was one of the coolest guys I've ever known and he has a special place in everyone's heart that was fortunate enough to know him. I know that he is walking hand in hand with Sue and that he is looking at us all, feeling the love.

Russell lost a great man with the loss of Gerry. I remember vividly attempting to play golf and hitting Gerry's ball instead of my own. Anyone else would have been furious but not Gerry - we had a good laugh about it. I'm certain all his loved ones will have many wonderful memories.
