McKean, Gilbert R. A well known and respected leader of the St. Louis Concrete Industry died, Sun., Feb. 21, 2010. He was 70. After graduating from the Missouri School of Mines-Rolla in 1962, Mr. McKean went on to serve active duty in the United States Army. Upon discharge, Mr. McKean began working at Breckenridge Material Company in 1965. Taking over from his father, Charles E. McKean, Mr. McKean served as President and CEO from 1979 - 2004. During his career, Mr. McKean also made his mark by serving selflessly in countless other organizations relative to the construction industry. He is survived by his wife, 2 children and 5 grandchildren. Services: Service information will not be published. Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, PO Box 4486, Houston, TX, 77210, Luke Nathan McKean Endowment, c/o St. Louis Children's Hospital Foundation, PO Box 955423, St. Louis, MO 63195-5423 and Bothwell Regional Health Cancer Cen ter, 601 East 14th St., Sedalia, MO 65301.
