I was so saddened to get the news of Mr. Navarros passing. I can remember playing ball for him and Mrs. Navarro. When he knew we had it in us to push a little farther he pushed, knowing we coud do it! When we won our championship basketball at St. Bonaventure, I can still remember the look on his face of sheer joy and was so proud of us all. He was a gentleman, a superior coach and a good friend. He will be missed. My prayers and thoughts go out to you Mrs. Navarro, Kevin, Patrick and Danny. May he rest in peace with all the other angels.

My thoughts and prayers to Pat and the boys Patrick & Kevin. I know Gil is in good company with my dad (Henry Galvan) they were such good friends. I will miss your dad very much, he was a great coach I learned alot from him. We always had a great time making fun of each other during our basketball games. I appreciated his friendship with both my parents, now they are all together catching up. My prayers and condolences are with the family. I will miss Mr. Navarro very much. Adrienne Galvan Vasquez

He was a very fair and nice teacher. One small action on his part made the second half of my 7th grade tolerable. I don't think he even realized how much he helped me. I have thought of him often throughout the years. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. May God Bless his family always in All Ways.

Thank you Mr. Navarro for being a wonderful role model as a teacher and coach. As a coach you taught me to never give up and to believe that anything is possible. The lessons you taught me about treating players and students in coaching and teaching physical education became the foundation for my career. To Mrs. Navarro and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Gil Navarro! What an outstanding man. I always admired his energy, competitive spirit, athletic ability, and wicked sense of humor. He developed many winning teams over the years but the team he was most proud of was his family. I'm sure that Gil will be missed by not only his family and friends, but by the thousands of former students, and athletes who experienced his teaching and coaching over a thirty seven year career. Thanks and Good bye my friend.

My deepest condolences to the Navarro family. The world lost a truly good man.I had the pleasure of being coached by Coach Navarro at Isbell and also having him as a teacher. He would always have something to say to you when he ran into you - giving a kind word or !&?%# directive to his kids, as he treated us all as such. I have fond memories of him and remember him pushing me to do my best in games or in class. Rest in Peace Coach/Friend.

Dearest Family of Gil Navaro,

I join with so many others who knew Gil in offering my deepest sympathy on his passing. Although it is little consolation at this sad time, it should be of some satisfaction to know that in his passing you can celebrate the end of a very long and productive life.

The measure of a life well-lived is not in how much money one has or what possessions they have accumulated, but rather through the lives they touched and the sorrow they leave behind. If the outpouring of sympathy on his loss is any indication, and it most certainly is, you can proudly and confidently say that his indeed was a life well-lived.

May you find peace and comfort in knowing that his loss is felt by all who knew and loved him.

Oh my gosh! I just heard of the passing of Mr. Navarro... I cant believe it. Mr. Navarro was one of those teachers that you can go on through life and never forget! He was THE best PE teachers I ever had. I have so many happy memories being his student. I remember always on rainy days we would all be inside the classroom drawing, watching movies and playing music. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten! Love ya Mr. Navarro!

My condolences go out to the Navarro family. Mr. Navarro was my P.E. Teacher in Jr. High and High School basketball coach from 1983-1986. He was inspiring and funny, and taught me to have faith in myself. He gave us all nicknames and coached with passion. My high school days were richer for having known him. He will be deeply missed.

My condolences to the Navarro family for your loss. I had the great opportunity of being guided by Mr.Navarro in P.E and sports. When I was 8 years old, I was a bystander watching the Punt,Pass, and Kick competetions at the Boys club (what they used to call it then). Mr Navarro asked me if I wanted to try out before they ended. I borrowed a cleat from someone and ended up coming in 3rd place. If it hadn't been for Mr.Navarro, I wouldn't have gotten a PPK trophy. This is my fondest memory of him. Thank You Mr Navarro and Family for helping all of us Santa Paula kids grow up. God Bless you.

My condolences go to the Navarro family. I was one of the fortunate ones to be one of his students for two years when I was at Isbell Middle School. I have to say he is my favorite teacher of all time. Mr. Navarro always treated us like young adults and not children. I trully loved his vibrant spirit. He will be greatly missed, but he is in a better place looking over us.

Sending heartfelt condolences to the entire Navarro family.
Mr. Navarro molded all of us when we were small. (Me, Gonzalo Castaneda, Rene Cobos and many others). He instilled in our minds that we were someone special and that we could compete with anyone or any team in sports. In 1977, at Isbell School, he was our Art, P.E. teacher and basketball coach. He took all of us to San Diego in his station wagon and we competed in a basketball tournament with the big schools. He was proud to take us there to compete. He invented the "Mupu Play" that totally confused the other teams. He was very clever on creating plays that were affected. We won numerous Big League District 63 Championships under his management. He followed us to Santa Paula High School Varsity Baseball and guided us though that level of play. All with the consistent influence that we do our best! He treated us on and off the court and field with respect; he treated us like his own boys! And he wouldn't settle for anything less or we would hear very descriptive LOUD words from him! He was a great man and a great coach! I know that Mr. Navarro was one of my biggest fans; I want everyone to know that I am Mr. Navarro's biggest fan! Rest in Peace Mr. Navarro, I am going to miss you!

I have known "Grandpa Navarro" my entire life. He was my P.E Teacher at Isbell and a good friend of my Grandparents. He was a great Teacher and didn't put up with any nonsense from his students. I always remember him at income tax time becuse he would come over to my Grandpa's house to get his taxes done on the last day. He was a wonderful man.

Mrs. Navarro and Boys, what can one say about Mr. Navarro; he was a friend to everyone and a mentor to many. I will always cherish our time together dating back to the mid sixties. He was truly a great person. His passing saddens me but at the same time I know he is in a much better place doing what he loved to do; now coaching a celestial team. Pat, Danny, Kevin, Patrick and family, our prayers are with you. May he rest in peace...

What a treasure of a man. He will be truly missed. Mr. Navarro was my track coach many years ago when he coached the Santa Paula Tigerettes track club (and kick started my love for running). I often recall all the memories he helped create and how special they will always be to me.
Your family is blessed to have had you as their loved one and the rest of us are blessed to have known you. May God bless you and your family always.
