Gilles FRAPPIER Obituary
Gilles Frappier's family wishes to inform you that he passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the age of 84. Gilles was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude "Trudy" Mainville. Son of the late Roméo Frappier and Roma Robinson, Gilles is survived by his companion, Lucille Fortin, his children: Raymond (Jennifer Gilman), Robert (Andrée Girouard) and Joanne (Albert Potvin); his six grandchildren: Nicolas and Catherine, Pascale and Martin, Camille and Alexis; his sisters: Jeannine (Soeurs de la Charité), Marie- Marthe (late Charles Desnoyers), Gilberthe (Rémi Raymond), Paulette (Denis Charette) and Hélène (Bernard Desjardins). He was predeceased by his brother Father Laurent Frappier. Friends may pay respects at the Coopérative funéraire de l'Outaouais, 750 Maloney blvd East, Gatineau on Thursday, March 26, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Then on Friday, March 27 at 9 a.m. The funeral service will be held at the Ste-Maria-Goretti church, 664 Duberger Street in Gatineau on Friday, March 27, at 11 a.m. The family wishes to extend its deepest thanks to the staff at the Foyer du Bonheur, especially those who worked on the second floor for the excellent care provided. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Research Chair housed within the Armand-Frappier Institute would be greatly appreciated. J'ai eu le bonheur de travailler à la Bibliothèque du Parlement alors que Gilles Frappier était le Bibliothécaire parlementaire adjoint. Un vrai gentleman, très doué et très dévoué. Un grand Canadien !

I worked with Mr. Frappier for over 15 years when he was Director at the Ottawa Public Library. He led OPL to be the first automated public library in Ontario. I remember him as a kind, supportive, fair Director - and in every meaning of the word, a gentleman. My sympathy to his family.
