~Loved and missed~
Proud Mainer, passionate educator, adoring husband, father and grandfather, Glenn fought gracefully and valiantly, but eventually succumbed to a recurrence of lymphoma on November 4th.
His boundless curiosity and love for the natural world, and for sharing the joys of science and learning, touched thousands of lives. A lifelong student of nature and the wonders of the earth, an artist with wood and form, an explorer and activist, the world is diminished by his loss.
A celebration of Glenn's life will be held in the spring when the birds he so loved will be returning, and his memory is held dear by the wife, children and grandchildren he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to contribute to Maine Farmland Trust or Maine Island Heritage Trust.

Oh no, I just read about Mr. Tremblay's passing today in a Lincoln Academy publication. I'm so sad to learn this natural educator and stellar human being is gone. He had such enthusiasm for teaching and for life. His joie de vivre was contagious. He was an amazing teacher whose marine bio class was sort of a catalyst for me to eventually move to San Francisco in my 20s. (Long story!) He genuinely cared about his students in a sincere and heartfelt way.
A couple of decades after graduating HS, I came back to Maine for a short visit w my young daughter. I had been in touch with Mr. Tremblay -- who said to call him Glenn but that's a hard habit to break! -- and he kindly invited us to stay at his and his wife's super sweet camp on a beautiful lake where the loons called at night and the thunderstorms made the air all the more sweet. We visited with them before and after, and even my daughter was struck but what a super nice, kind, fun person Mr. Tremblay was.
Sometimes it's the smallest things that attach a person into someone's memory forever. Laura still remembers his trick of how to make it easier to swallow a pill. As I recall, she needed a Tylenol for a bad headache, and all that was at camp were capsules. She'd never been able to down a pill form medicine. He suggested drinking it with sparkling water, and down it went, a minor miracle! For years until she got old enough to use plain old water she did the sparkling water trick, and thought of her mama's fun and caring teacher from Maine.
Mr. Tremblay is in so many memories and so many hearts, and he will live on through so many whose lives he touched. My heart goes out to his wonderful wife and this children and grandchildren.

I found today that my old friend, and former husband of my former wife (that's why I listed "family") has gone to that undiscovered country. He was a good man, a great dad to his son Greg, a good neighbor, and a peaceful person.
As we all get closer to the unknown, it is important to remember those who have gone before. We only "live on" in others' memories of us.
Condolences to Greg, Fiona, and yes too to Jennifer. It is a good time to think of healing past wounds.

We meet Glenn and Joan on St. George Island, Florida years ago as Glenn and I were recycling goods at the container in the ally behind a bar there one morning. Some guy in shorts comes up to me and mentions that he saw our lisence plate and he was from ME too. From that moment on we enjoyed hikes, a river float, many wonderful enlightening conversations over the phone or a meal at some interesting restaurant. We always learned a lot, saw the light at the end of whatever tunnel we traveled that day, laughed together and simply enjoyed ourselves. Glenn, my Glen, Joan and I shared many interests, especially those involving the natural world, and Glenn enhanced our lives thereby. He always had a solution to whatever problem was brought up in conversations, and there were many. That was Glenn and we loved him for that and everything else about him.

A very dear friend of ours for over 40 years, Glenn will be deeply missed. In spite of several moves and changes in our lives, we always stayed in contact. Throughout our numerous visits and special trips to different parts of Maine and even Canada, we enjoyed his informative and interesting nature stories. We never left a visit without having learned something new about our Maine flora or fauna. We will always remember Glenn for his kindness, generosity and enormous heart.

Mr. Tremblay was an inspired, kind and patient teacher. He was a significant and positive figure during my time in HS. I remember, of the many things he shared with us he used a red laser pointer before Christmas to goof about rudolf the red nose reindeer leading Santa´s sleigh. A sweet and silly - much appreciated gesture. (And his story about Woodstock:)
I will not forget his kindness or clear dedication to teaching.
