Glenn Rucker Obituary

Graveside services for Glenn D. Rucker, 85, Signal Mountain, Tenn., formerly of Troup, are scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday at the Rucker Cemetery, Highway 110 and CR 2146, Troup.

Mr. Rucker died May 9, 2006, at his home.

He was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Troup, to the late Grover Ben and Mattie Ward Rucker.

He was a 1938 honor graduate of Troup High School, where he was president of the student body. He was a member of the Troup High School marching band and was named Citizen of the Year by the Tyler Rotary Club. He was a 1943 graduate of The University of Texas and served as an officer in the Navy during World War II.

He was general manager for Farmers Chemical Co. in Chattanooga, Tenn., and technical director for Georgia Pacific Co. in Plaquemine, La.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Brunson Pelfrey Rucker; children, Glenna Rucker, Garland, Randal Rucker, Los Altos, Calif., Jan Rucker Roseberry, Athens, Tenn., Robert Rucker, Nashville, Tenn., Krista Rucker Roy, Baton Rouge, La., Kelly Rucker Bingel, Arlington, Va., Karen Pelfrey Smith, Chattanooga, Tenn., and John Pelfrey, Birmingham, Ala.; 19 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and one nephew.
