Glenna Edna Webber Howard passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on May 27, 2015 at her son's home in Vineland, New Jersey. Edna was a 1948 graduate of Wadsworth High School. Edna was a former of resident of Belfast, New York for twenty-five years prior to her move to Vineland. New Jersey. As a member of the Belfast community, Edna served on the Belfast Board of Education for a number of years. Edna also was chair of the Allegany County Services Board for sixteen years. As member of the Wesleyan Church of Houghton, she served as secretary to the Elder board and was a very active member, serving in the church she enjoyed so well.

Edna was a professor and chair of the Education Department at Houghton College from 1988-1996. After her retirement she worked for the New York State Education Department in area schools. Edna also worked for the National Educational Department in work related to No Child Left Behind Act evaluating schools seeking national funds. Edna earned her undergraduate degree at Southern Illinois University, her Masters Degree from Northern Colorado, and her Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. Edna began her teaching career in 1960 teaching until 1966 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She then moved with her husband and family and taught in the Palisade, Nebraska schools from 1966-1970. With the next family move, Edna taught in Northglenn, Co., at Huron Junior High from 1970-78. She and her husband then moved to Ecuador to serve at the Alliance Academy from 1978-83, where she was principal of the school while her husband, Dale, was the school Chaplain and counselor. In 1983, the family returned to the states, where Edna completed her doctoral studies in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and then moved to Cleveland, TN where she served first as principal at Cleveland High School and then as principal of an elementary school, achieving the first district elementary school accredited by the Southern States Education Office. From this location, Dale and Edna next moved to Belfast, NY where she was Chair of Education and Recreation Department at Houghton College. Teaching students and guiding young teachers to their highest level of performance was a constant goal for Edna's educational career.

Edna served with her husband for twenty-five years, in Christian and Missionary churches in Indiana, Texas, Illinois, Nebraska, and Colorado and five years in Quito, Ecuador at The Alliance Academy.

Edna is survived by her husband, Dale, her six sons and wives, Mike and Beverly of Portales, NM; Paul and Laurie of Lincoln, NE; Ron and Julie of Chappell, NE, Joseph and Maria of Burkina Faso; her pastor, Nate and Sharon of Vineland, N.J., Lt. Colonel U S A Chris and Kim of Charlotte, N.C.; twenty grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margery Webber. She was predeceased by her parents, Curtis and Edith Webber and all of her siblings, a host of friends from many churches and schools from many states.

Visitation was held at the Cumberland County Community Church (1800 E. We have fond memories of Dale and Edna's service to Houghton and Belfast Central School and of their friendship to us personally. Our hearts go out to Dale and family in this time, God bless you all as you grieve and celebrate the wonderful life of Edna. Much sympathy, Mike and Patty (Peperato) Preston.
