Gloria Stokes Scofield

Gloria Stokes Scofield Gloria S. Scofield, age 79, of Newberry, Florida, passed away March 23, 2023 at her home. Born in Brooker, Florida in 1943, she was a lifelong resident of North Central Florida.

A 1961 graduate of Gainesville High School, she had a long career at Hughes Supply in Gainesville and subsequently served the children of Alachua County Public Schools as a bus aide. She was a loving, devoted and nuturing mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Gloria was an accomplished green thumb who spent countless hours caring for the hundreds of plants in her expansive yard. For the last half of her life she was an aficionado of bluegrass music and an acitve member of the Soggy Bottom Bluegrass Bunch.

Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Elmer Stokes and Cora Stokes Hilliard; siblings, Richard Stokes and Naomi Scott; and husband Jeral Scofield.

She is survived by her partner, of 17 years, Denny Longworth; children, Melanie Melton and Jay Scofield(Susan); siblings: June Davis (Alvin), Judy Hunter, and Dwight Stokes(Kim); grandchildren, Kristin Cash, Lauren Trahan (JJ Claar), Dylan and Rowan Scofield; great gandchildren Alexis Trahan, Logan Cash and Lindsey Cash.

The family invites all friends and family memebers to a Celebration of the Life of Gloria Scofield on Saturday April 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the home she shared with Denny Longworth, 27114 SW 22nd Place Newberry, Florida 32669.
