GLYNN D., 50, passed away suddenly in Phila., PA. She was general counsel for General Electric (GE), overseeing a global team that provides support for a broad portfolio that includes chemicals, technology, heavy equipment, services, and large-scale capital projects. Prior to joining GE, Glynn was a partner in the Corporate Dept. at WilmerHale, a top legal firm that maintains offices in 12 cities across America and around the world. From 1993-1996, she served in the first Clinton administration at the Dept. of the Interior as counselor to Secretary Bruce Babbitt. At Interior, she was the lead negotiator of the $700 million groundbreaking Everglades restoration settlement among environmentalists, local Indian tribes, the farming industry, and the federal and state governments. Glynn began her legal career as an associate at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. Active in the community, Glynn served on the governing council of the Miller Center for Public Affairs - a think tank devoted to the study of U.S. national governmental institutions, policies and programs - as well as the advisory board for the Univ. of Penn.'s Wharton School of Business' Initiative for Global Environmental Leadership (IGEL), and the board of trustees of the Thomas Jefferson Fdn. She was a member of the Seven Society at the Univ. of Virginia. In March of 2004, then governor, Mark Warner, appointed Glynn to UVA's Board of Visitors, where she served until 2012. Glynn published many articles, including The Global Business of Law in the Bloomberg Corporate Law Journal (March 2012). Glynn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Juris Doctor from the Univ. of Virginia. She was a 1982 graduate of Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alonzo and Eula Glenn and George and Evelyn Key. Her memory will be cherished by her parents Mr. Charles F. (Ruby) Key Sr.; brother Charles F. Key, Jr.; aunt; Gloria Glenn; 3 nieces; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, two educational scholarship funds have been set up: The Glynn D. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 501 S. Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Omega Omega Ceremony will take place at the church at 10 A.M. prior to the Service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Friday evening at JOHN P.
