Gordon R. Giles, 80, of Lakewood, PA, died on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at PAM Specialty Hospital of Wilkes Barre. He was born on September 28, 1942 in Poyntelle, PA, the son of Ralph and Helen Giles.
Gordon graduated from Preston High School. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1964. He then married Mary McGraw on September 16, 1967. Gordon spent his life as a second generation dairy farmer. He enjoyed his work as a farmer and loved to be outdoors. He also enjoyed gardening, good food, and, most of all, time spent with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary; 3 children, Gregory and wife Carol Giles, Bridgeport, WV, Scott and wife Kimberly Giles, Boston, MA, and Kristin and husband Aaron Cox, Cambridge, MA; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Giles, Kitrina Pople, and Madison Giles; 2 sisters, Judy Slifco and Sandra Lapoint; sister in law, Carole Giles; and 15 nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his brother, Duane Giles; and 2 brothers in law, Mike Slifco and Gerald Lapoint.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 4-7PM at Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock, with military honors at 5PM. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 10AM at St. Juliana's Church, Rock Lake, PA. Burial will follow in St. Juliana's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Gordon’s memory to the Northern Wayne Fire Co., 1633 Crosstown Hwy, Lakewood, PA, 18439.
