Gordon Martin Kent, 80, of 10629 Blue Ridge Drive, Hurt, died on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Sharon Campbell Kent for fifty-three years.

He was born on October 21, 1942, in Lynchburg, a son of the late Dr. James Paul Kent Sr. and Eleanor Amelia Martin Kent. He was a partner of Kent & Kent Law Office in Altavista, practicing for over 56 years, and a member of the Campbell Lodge No. 316 AF & AM. He was also a life-long member of the Altavista Lions Club, Motley Ruritan Club and local Sportman's Club. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with family. His passion, in addition to his family, was working on the family farm.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Martin Kent and his wife, Vonda, of Bristol, Tenn.; two daughters, Anne Gowen and her husband, Ken, of Altavista, and Amelia Wilson and her husband, Kevin, of Hurt; one brother, James P. Kent Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Lynchburg; and seven grandchildren, Madyson, Rachel, Ashton, Cora, Campbell, Isaac and Brandy.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Finch & Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Jason Andrews. interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery with masonic rites by Campbell Lodge No. 316 AF & AM.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence.
