Gregory Burton Boyington III
December 13, 1965 - May 3, 2014
Resident of Alameda
Gregory Burton Boyington III died on May 3, 2014 in Oakland, CA.
Born on December 13, 1965 in Mountain Home, Idaho, he attended Carlsbad (CA) High School and graduated from Alameda High School.
Owner of Clean Cut Painting, he was an extraordinarily talented craftsman and enjoyed restoring local Victorian homes. His precise, caring work touched the homes and lives of numerous Bay Area residents.
Gregory was a gifted athlete and loved surfing, skateboarding, skiing and kite boarding. He was an original member of the Alameda and Sherman Island kite boarding community. In later years, he was regarded as an elder statesman and local hero of the sport, known for his insistence on having fun safely.
Greg was affectionately known by friends as LMG or Loud Mouth Greg and designed custom kite boards with the LMG moniker. He was known for his boisterous laugh, loud voice, hysterical stories and exuberant spirit. His huge smile and loving bear hugs will be missed.
He is survived by his loving mother and father, Lauretta and Gregory Boyington, Jr, his devoted sisters, Tiffany Bailey and Amanda Boyington, his nieces, Kelsey and Cally Bailey, his nephews, Cody Bailey and Reef Lippa and brothers-in-law, Duffy Bailey and Jeffrey Lippa, as well as his adored canines, Sweetie and Poi. He was predeceased by his son, Frank Russo.
A celebration of Gregory's life will be held at Crown Beach, by the "shack", in Alameda, CA on May 17, at noon.
All whom he touched are welcome. Peace.
